New scam service Vanilla Drainer takes $5M in three weeks

A new scam service, Vanilla Drainer, has stolen at least $5.27 million in cryptocurrency over three weeks, with the largest theft being $3.09 million in stablecoins on August 5, 2024. It provides tools to fraudsters, taking a 15-20% cut, and bypasses security like Blockaid using advanced algorithms. Blockchain investigator Darkbit attributes recent major drains to Vanilla, noting it's attracting former Inferno Drainer customers. Despite declining overall scam volumes, drainers adapt with fresh contracts and domains. Phishing losses rose 153% in July to $7.09 million, affecting 9,143 victims.
